Presentation - Principal missions - Metrology - Noise maps

Plan of exposure to the noise of an airport, optimised routes over a land register of 65,000 houses.

PRESENTATION

Faced with the repeated requests of its clients and partners, ACOUSTIQUE CLAIRBOIS TISSEYRE is making available to you its control of airport noise pollution, control which derives from the experience acquired from numerous studies in the field -Orly, Liège, Charleroi…-, as well as twenty years of daily confrontation with concrete acoustic problems at airports.

The most varied missions have been entrusted to ACOUSTIQUE CLAIRBOIS TISSEYRE in the area of airport noise pollution : impact studies, metrological assessments, projection studies, daily monitoring via a permanent metrological network…

PRINCIPAL MISSIONS

I – Characterising the site - Metrology

  • Characterising the site in its current situation with the help of large scale measuring campaigns (30 points x 1 week for Liège, 18 at Charleroi, 10 at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges…) ;
  • Interpretation of the metrological results : differentiation of the sources within a multi-source environment, " extraction " of aircraft in order to obtain their specific noise pollution, establishment of an acoustic inventory to be compared with the results of simulations ; establishment of a distribution of the contribution of the different forms of transport to the acoustic environment.

II – Projection Calculations

  • Creation of the IT model of the site ;
  • Establishing various scenarios, according to fleet composition, the number of daily movements, the presence or otherwise of night flights, the approach and take-off routes taken…
  • Optimising scenarios, taking account of the different charactersitics of each of the aircraft, their climb profiles as well as their dispersion vis-a-vis theoretical routes, motorisation… ;
  • Acoustic impact studies of moving aircraft (taxi and parking) ;
  • Establishment of noise maps, showing the pollution in function of the chosen indicator ;
  • Proposals for improvement : optimising take-off routes, improvements on the ground, accompanying and curative measures, setting up a permanent metrological network enabling noise pollution to be managed on a daily basis…

NOISE MAPS

Maps of noise on the ground based on a chosen indicator (here LDN)
IT modeling
The trajectories of aircraft are modelled in three dimensions, taking account of the load of the aircraft, of its specific climb profile and its aircraft dispersion vis-à-vis the theoretical trajectory, which enables different uses of the airport to be characterised.
All the results can be visualised in the form of noise maps and/or maps of the effectiveness of noise pollution reduction measures. The maps are presented in the form of isolevel contours, colour maps….The impact of the various scenarios can be assessed in terms of the population effected, thanks to the use of exhaustive surveys of the buildings in the airport environment (up to 20 km, and more than 150,000 inhabitants)
