Silencer dimensioning, an EXCEL spreadsheet

The Piège à Son spreadsheet is dedicated to silencer dimensioning :

• circular (with or without bulb),
• or rectangular (with metal sheet baffles or plain baffles).

Attenuations reached by the selected silencers come from a compilation of test reports carried out on the different types of silencers available on the market.

----------------MAIN FUNCTIONS

What Piège à Son does :

• Determine the minimum attenuations and the maximum regenerations the silencer must achieve, in order to meet the sound pressure level criterium away from the air registers, considering :
  

  - the acoustic sound power level of the machine (cooler unit, fan...),

  - the sound pressure level criterium to be met,

- the geometric or dimensional configuration of the air duct network, if it exists.

• Dimension the optimum silencer(s) that ensure to meet the calculated attenuations values and the pressure drop allowable by the machine(s).

This application requires Microsoft EXCEL, version 3 or higher.
