Year

Delivered in 1996

In 1996, the ARP cinema was completely renovated to become the cinema for filmmakers. Through this renovation, the ARP wanted to make it a showcase for French cinema in Europe and around the world. Today, this establishment comprising 3 rooms aims to host meeting places and festivals to promote the 7th art and culture.

Methodology

Tisseyre + Associés has 40 years of experience in room acoustics. 30 years ago, anticipating the shift to digital and 3D visualization, we developed tools and methods to optimize room acoustic solutions. Based on the observation that the acoustics of a cinema hall are structuring for its architecture, we have developed a joint working methodology with the architect so that the acoustic solutions are integrated. Our global acoustic approach taking into account the acoustic performance of the room, its insulation vis-à-vis the outside as well as its sound system from the design phase makes it possible to meet the need for sound immersion of users.

Tasks

Acoustic performance of room 1

Thanks to our 3D modeling tool, Hall Acoustics®, we can model with finesse the architectural choices of the volume, shapes, materials and moldings of cinemas so that they participate fully in their acoustic performance. For the sound and visual images to overlap perfectly, we check:

  • The sound homogeneity of the room: we create rooms that are bright enough to guarantee excellent sound coverage (difference of 0 dB between the first row and the back of the room).
  • The sharpness of the sound image and the sound immersion of the entire audience.

This room is remarkable for the level of sound envelopment during film screenings.

Insulation between rooms

Our PIAA softwareYOUR makes it possible to predict the acoustic performance of the walls according to their compositions. Thus, we can free ourselves from the test reports of the structures while obtaining the performance of the minimum sound reduction index targeted.

PA system

Thanks to our 3D models, we can integrate the sound system into the architecture of the project and optimize its direction in order to ensure the auditory immersion of the spectator. Coupled with the natural acoustics of the room, the Bass trap system absorbs low frequencies and improves the sharpness of the sound image.
