The IBN SINA Hospital tower was designed to represent a landmark in the city, like a lighthouse. This bioclimatic hospital wishes to combine hospital excellence with high environmental quality. In addition to its 950-bed general hospital, it will include:

  • A Cardiovascular League Institute (90 beds);
  • A teaching and conference center;
  • A boarding school.

Methodology

The acoustic firm Tisseyre + Associés has developed a joint working methodology with the architect. Indeed, our 4D digital modeling tool for soundscapes in the future state of completion, the BIMAE®, is an essential work support for close collaboration with architects and urban planners at all stages of the project. By modeling the sound evolution during a day of transport routes and human activities, our tool checks the acoustic balance between these different sound sources in order to avoid nuisance. We can then anticipate, integrate and optimize the acoustic solutions necessary for the coherence of the soundscapes.

Tasks

Complete environmental acoustic mission

Thanks to BIMAE®, we were able to model the impact of technical equipment in operation (placed on the roof of the base) on the facade of the tower. Depending on this, we have designed acoustic insulation solutions at the source, using absorbent walls around the technical equipment, but also at the receiver with absorbent coatings on the facade and patios (see below). In addition, the BIMAE® modeling allows us to precisely visualize the sound impact of a helicopter following a precise route on the tower and the surrounding areas and thus to manage the air corridor, the location of the heliport and the flight times. exploitation.

Acoustic insulation optimization

The 3D sound modeling of the BIMAE® allows visualization of the actual noise exposure over the entire tower. Thus, instead of sizing the facade insulations in a uniform way, we have optimized them. Unlike the so-called ray projection method, zone mesh modeling allows more detailed modeling of sound exposure levels in 3D mapping. The inaccuracies of the radiation technique systematically lead to overestimating the insulation requirements. For 140m high tower projects, these acoustic insulation optimizations save several million euros on the nature of the facades.
